Voted Ireland’s favourite building at the RIAI Irish Architecture Awards in 2018, 26 York Street is regarded as one of the most advanced clinical healthcare simulation centres in Europe.
Part of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland’s (RCSI) city campus in Dublin, the state-of-the-art building provides cutting-edge facilities to deliver education and training for future healthcare professionals.
In addition to the use of exposed concrete and brick to complement the surrounding buildings, 26 York Street features an impressive façade design. Here, DOWSIL™ 791 silicone was identified as the ideal product to seal the glazing, thanks to its superior weathering characteristics and high strength bond.

Following the refurbishment of the adjacent office building, the second phase of the project at Cumberland Place entailed the development of a striking eight-storey commercial development.
Due to its double-glazed curtain walling from aluminium and vertical steel mesh fins mounted perpendicular to the façade, the project required a premium silicone sealant to meet the architectural design’s performance requirements. DOWSIL™ 993 structural glazing silicone was selected to bond and secure not only the large glass units but also natural stone elements of the unitised systems.

Created using a unique structure of interlocking concrete walls jutting out over an historic dock-front, the V&A Dundee is one of Scotland’s most recognisable modern buildings.
With the extreme weather demands due to its close proximity to the Firth of Tay, DOWSIL™ 791 and 895 glazing sealants were both specified to play a key role in meeting crucial performance requirements during the construction of the museum’s unusual façade.
