Surface Preparation

Ensure that the surfaces to be sealed are clean, dry, sound and free from frost. Clean all joint surfaces with a suitable solvent and lint free cloth to remove oil, grease, dust, dirt and other contaminants which could impair adhesion.

Application Instructions

Tooling of the sealant should be carried out within five minutes of application to ensure optimum contact has been made between the sealant and the substrate, leaving a smooth and professional finish. When using as an instant gasket, ensure all surfaces are clean. To enable components to be dismantled at a later date, apply a light coating of oil or grease to one or both surfaces. Apply Geocel Auto Silicone to one surface only in a bead 1mm to 3mm thick. Ensure the bead is evenly spread, filling voids and irregularities between the two surfaces. Close and clamp assembly immediately. When the sealant has cured sufficiently (approx 12 hours) but before full cure, excess may be trimmed away with a sharp blade.

Clean up

Excess sealant may be cleaned off tools and non porous surfaces whilst in an uncured state using a suitable solvent or Geocel Universal Wipes. Cured sealant may be removed by abrasion or other mechanical means.
